China Mobile to Add Investment in Pakistan Network Expansion

After acquiring Pakistani mobile phone operator Paktel for US$400 million and renaming the company as CMPak in February 2007, China Mobile plans to invest in 2008 an additional US$800 million in expanding CMPak's network, online news agency Asia Media reported on February 25.

Out of the overall Pakistani market with a subscriber base of 77 million, CMPak currently has two million subscribers. With the US$800 million investment, CMPak aims to boost its market share up to 20% - 25%. However, the information has not been verified by China Mobile yet.
